The Queensway ★★★1/2

We had our first breakfast this week, at a restaurant called The Queensway.  We arrived at the restaurant at 7:45am, but found out it didn't open until 8, so we hung out in the car for a few minutes.

When we went inside we were offered drinks and given menus right away.  Renaldo ordered a chocolate milk and Mikaela ordered a coffee! The drinks came very quickly and were quite delicious!

We looked over the menu and made our decisions.  Renaldo ordered chocolate chip pancakes and Mikaela ordered a breakfast special: eggs, hash browns, your choice of meat, and toast.  Mikaela chose eggs over easy, sausage, rye toast, and substituted tomatoes instead of hash browns. Our food came very quickly.

Renaldo: "The pancakes were very yummy and very filling. I couldn't even finish them! I give them 3.5 stars"

Mikaela: "The breakfast special was excellent.  I liked that I had the option of Rye toast.  I also was happy I could substitute tomatoes for the hash browns.  The food was great.  Everything was cooked exactly as I had ordered.  I give my breakfast 4 stars!"

Our drinks were very good as well.  Renaldo's chocolate milk inspired Mikaela to buy chocolate milk at the grocery store later that day.  But something even more interesting happened with our drinks at the Queensway.  Mikaela ordered water after we ate, and her water came with the most beautiful ice sculpture you can find on a glass!  We couldn't believe it!

We discussed at length whether or not this "tree-landscaped" ice was intentional or not.  It was balancing so perfectly on my glass that I thought it couldn't possibly be an accident.  Renaldo, on the other hand, was more sceptical -  who has time to make pretty ice at a restaurant anyways?

We decided to ask the waitress. She explained that the ice was not intentional (darn it.. I was so sure!)
It was just a beautiful fluke.  Renaldo - 1,  Mikaela - 0.

We give the service 4.5 stars and the atmosphere 3 stars, leading to our overall rating of 3.5 stars for this restaurant.

That concludes our first breakfast as food critics.  Check back soon for our next review.  We will be going to The Whistle Stop! Yum Yum
